Zahid: We are going through a difficult and challenging time after the 14GE

Kuala Lumpur: UMNO Supreme Council has decided that any form of negotiation to form a government or opposition will be based on en bloc system.

Acting UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) said, this decision was made as UMNO has won 54 seats out of 78 Parliamentary seats in the 14th General Election.

“As we are going through a difficult and challenging time after the general election, a special task force group is being formed to continue implementing the responsibilty and set a strong political force,” he said while chairing UMNO Supreme Council meeting in a press conference at UMNO Headquarters here today.

 In whatever situation, Ahmad Zahid said, the soul of UMNO must be moved at the grassroot level especially during Ramadhan when the UMNO branches and divisions will be having their meetings.

On a question of the status of Barisan Nasional’s members of parliament who have jumpped to Pakatan Harapan (PH), he said they are automatically dropped from being the member of the party in BN.

Meanwhile on UMNO Supreme Council members election, Ahmad Zahid said, the meeting today has not discussed on that matter.

In the 14th GE, BN has won 78 out of 222 parliamentary seats. From 78 seats 54 was won by UMNO.

Ahmad Zahid also said, the 78 member of parliament are still loyal to BN except the Acting President of UPKO, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau who joined Pakatan Harapan.

Wilfred Madius joined Pakatan Harapan after he met Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) President, Shafie Apdal on Thursday a day after the GE.
