PUTRAJAYA AUG.3: UMNO has taken its stand not to defend the Perikatan Nasional Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin whom it alleged has failed in his performance according to Article 3.3 UMNO Constitution.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi declared that 11 lawmakers from his party have withdrawn their support for Muhyiddin and their letters have been submitted to the palace.
He said, UMNO is supporting His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong and it is in line with the UMNO constitution.
The decision was made at the UMNO Supreme Council Meeting held virtually today.
“The Prime Minister’s statement today has not helped to clarify the problem but instead contradicting with what had been said by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong that all the Emergency Ordinances have to be debated and resolved before 1st August and not September 2021 in line with Article 150(3) Federal Constitution,” he said at a virtual press conference held here this evening.
The UMNO President said, to express their undivided loyalty to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong , the UMNO Supreme Council has agreed with consensus to withdraw the support for Perikatan Nasional Government and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister.
Ahmad Zahid said, Muhyiddin must take responsibility and withdraw as Prime Minister with honour for the failure and the default of the Government under his leadership that did not adhere to Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree.
“UMNO Members of Parliament (MPs) declaration has sufficient numbers to withdraw the support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister and it has been presented to His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong and subsequently showed that he has lost the majority support to be the head of the government. -Malaysia World News
