KUALA LUMPUR JUNE 16: His Excellency Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al- Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his views that the Parliamentary session should convene the soonest possible.
Al-Sultan Abdullah said, after viewing in detail the opinions of party leaders, Special Independent Emergency Committee 2021 and the presentations of experts from government agencies, the Parliamentary session should start soon to enable the Emergency Ordinance and the National Recovery Plan to be debated at the Dewan Rakyat.
Al Sultan Abdullah also expressed his wish for the number of COVID-19 infections in the pandemic could be flattened immediately and feels that vaccination is the only “exit strategy” to control the transmission of the corona virus in Malaysia.
Comptroller of the Royal Family and Household, Istana Negara, Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement here today, Al-Sultan Abdullah was with the opinion that the government should act sternly, ease the beurocracies and speed up the people’s vaccination process in order to achieve 80 per cent herd immunity in the earliest possible time.
In relation to that, Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed his opinion of the necessity to have a stable, strong and able government to function effectively in handling the COVID-19 pandemic and recover the national economy.
Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed his opinion after chairing the Malay Rulers’ Special Meeting at the Istana Negara today.
According to Ahmad Fadil, Al-Sultan Abdullah was very much aware of the function of the Parliament as an important platform for the people’s representatives to meet to discuss several issues especially relating to the transmission of COVID-19 pandemic.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also said that the Members of Parliament could discuss on the provision of government’s expenditures in the efforts to help the people in this hard times and to recover the national economy.
His Excellency Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah takes the
opportunity to appreciate the continuous support of the Malay Rulers (Raja-Raja Melayu) as this is a reflection of their awareness on the national problems and the continuity of people’s livelihood.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed his great appreciation on the front liners who have been working very hard, sacrificing their time and tireless efforts to fight against COVID-19 pandemic in this country. –Malaysia World New
