KUALA LUMPUR: The opposition MPs were not happy today and caused an uproar again  when Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman (PAS-Sik) claimed that the Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin had majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.

Tarmizi said this in challenge to Ong Kian Ming (PH-Bangi) who claimed that Muhyiddin no longer had a majority and if Opposition Leader, Anwar Ibrahim was given the opportunity to become the Prime Minister, he was confident that Anwar could handle Covid-19 better than Muhyiddin.

Tarmizi said Muhyiddin has proven to have a majority when the majority of MPs supported the 2021 Budget.

“Where is the evidence that the Port Dickson MP (Anwar Ibrahim) has a majority,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat.

The opposition MPs stood up and started to scream at Tarmizi.

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) said that Tarmizi’s statement that said Muhyiddin had a majority of support confused the Dewan Rakyat.

“If we dare, we will vote. I challenge Sik (Tarmizi). Bagan Datuk (Zahid Hamidi) has already told Umno to withdraw support for PN.

“I challenge Sik to accept my challenge,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Alamin (BN-Kimanis) intervened to ask Rayer not to waste time but focus on the issues presented.

“We are talking about vaccines, Jelutong people are talking about vaccines, don’t waste time,” he said.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohd Rashid Hasnon then asked Rayer not to interrupt Tarmizi’s speech.
