TERENGGANU : Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob urges the people to uphold the concept of “Tasamuh” that stresses on tolerance and togetherness in line with the spirit of Malaysian Family.
Ismail said, “Tasamuh” or tolerance in the community will make an individual appreciate the differences between the people and this should be the daily life practices to form a peaceful and prosperous community.
“The Hari Raya Aidilfitri will be more meaningful when it is celebrated in a peaceful and prosperous atmosphere and this could only be enjoyed if we respect each other and live together in a big family even though from different races, cultures and beliefs”.
The Prime Minister said that in his speech in conjunction with the Malaysian Aidilfitri Open House 2022 Celebration at the Dataran Drawbridge, Kuala Terengganu, Friday evening. The event was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and the Terengganu state government.
Ismail added, based on the statistics from Malaysian Immigration Department, as of 12th May 2022, Malaysia has received 604,457 foreigners since the international border doors have been opened on 1st April 2022 in which 93.8 per cent or 567,025 from the total are tourists.
“When the announcement was made, MOTAC had targeted two million tourists to visit Malaysia this year with RM8.6 billion revenue. Relating to that, the government has allocated RM230 million in 2022 Budget under the Tourism Recovery Plan that will benefit the arts and cultural activists under the tourism sector,” Ismail said.
Ismail appreciates the development of tourism sectors in Terengganu that is famous for its food, rich in culture and is certainly becoming the destination for the domestic and foreign tourists.
“With the various unique tourists’ attractions including the “Jambatan Angkat” that became the best tourism icon in 2019, I am confident Terengganu will be able to achieve its target to attract three million tourists from the country and overseas this year,” Ismail said. – Malaysia World News
