KUALA LUMPUR: Former Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian reporter Wan Noor Hayati Wan Alias, 43, who was also the winner of the prestigious 2014 Kajai Award had passed away on Monday due to pneumonia.

Noor Hayati was reportedly bedridden after she was discharged from the hospital on June 14, and was recuperating at her home in Taman Kajang Utama but was admitted to the Serdang Hospital emergency department two days ago.

Noor Hayati was infected with Covid-19 in April and her health had deteriorated and was receiving treatment at Serdang Hospital and Kajang Hospital.

Before that, Noor Hayati was treated at Putrajaya Hospital for suffering from lack of oxygen.

Her death at 5pm was confirmed by Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) activists via Whatsapp group KLNewsdesk-Intermedia. The activists had accompanied the deceased at the hospital.

Earlier the deceased’s friend Fatihah Zakinan said, nobody took care of her and she had to manage everything herself at her house in Taman Kajang Utama, Kajang.

However on Saturday Noor Hayati was taken to the Serdang Hospital by her family members before she was pronounced dead on Monday.

Noor Hayati’s brother arrived at the hospital few hours after her last breath to arrange for the body to be taken to Rembau, Negeri Sembilan for burial. –Malaysia World News
