PETALING JAYA: It is unfair to blame Umno for the failure of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
Even though there are several Umno MPs and ministers in the PN government, UMNO the party is not involved in any decision making or in any of the country’s policies, he said.
“I understand that there is an effort (to blame) UMNO party for the failure of the PN government.
“I think this should be explained again so that everything is brighter and understandable.
“True there are some members of Parliament from UMNO currently hiring the PN government. But it never meant that the UMNO party was involved in determining the policies of the country,” Zahid said in a post on his Facebook today.
All decrees for the country are instead made entirely by the PN government. This includes policies related to the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, Zahid said.
The state policy determination has even been an absolute right of the PN government since the Emergency Ordinance was implemented, he said, adding that is when the institution of Parliament is suspended for reasons that are still being seized.
“Thus there shouldn’t be parties to try to ‘ trap ‘ UMNO party with the failure of the PN government to deal with covid-19.
“It’s unfair whatever the failure of the PN government is trying to be associated with UMNO party.”
