KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Umno supporters urged the Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to seek a royal pardon for Najib Razak following his incarceration over the SRC International case.
The group also vowed they will protest in larger numbers in front of Istana Negara should the Prime Minister and Umno leaders ignore their call.
Earlier today hundreds of supporters had gathered at Istana Negara and gave a referendum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong seeking for a royal pardon.
In addition, the memorandum also demanded the king to summon the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Azam Baki and Attorney-General Idrus Harun to explain whether there was a conflict of interest in the case involving Najib.
“The prime minister should give a letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” FMT quoted Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara president Syed Mohammad Imran Syed Abdul Aziz as saying when talking to reporters at the palace ground.
Imran also called on Umno president Ahmad Zahid and all Umno leader to ask the prime minister to act immediately.
He also urged Umno leaders to withdraw their support for Ismail should he refuse to follow up on the order.
“Umno should withdraw its support for the government.
“We are pleading with the Umno president, as Umno members, please withdraw support for this government so that the Parliament will be dissolved, if no action is taken.
“If this does not happen, then we consider this government tyrannical.
“This is not Muhyiddin Yassin’s government, this is a Barisan Nasional government.
“You are prosecuting someone who has given a lot to the people,”
Syed Imran said.
“I might better work with DAP because they help when their leaders are imprisoned,” he added.
