KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today urged UMNO and all Barisan Nasional (BN) Members to fully support Datuk Seri Najib Razak in his final appeal to the Federal Court.

It was reported Zahid Hamidi threw his full weight behind convicted Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is facing jail for 12 years and pay a RM210 million fine if confirmed guilty.

“Let us continue to be united, in solidarity with Najib. Do not give up. Be patient and keep fighting with us.

“Justice is indeed a long road. There is even an expression that there are three types of truth. Your truth, my truth and the truth. Truth Is God’s Word,” Zahid said in a Facebook post this morning.

Several other Umno members and leaders allegedly criticised senior leaders for keeping quiet about the Federal Court decisions to reject Najib’s bid to adduce new evidence and seek a postponement in hearing his last appeal, MalayMail reported.

Zahid said Najib has contributed so much to Umno and the Barisan Nasional government and continues to prevent Pakatan Harapan’s repeated attempts to destroy BN.

“When PH ruled for 22 months, he managed to repel attacks on UMNO when UMNO was belittled and tried to be buried by political enemies,” Zahid added.

In 2020, Najib was found guilty of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering by the High Court in July 2020, and he is now appealing against these charges.

A five-judge panel yesterday dismissed Najib’s legal team’s request to adduce further evidence and postpone hearing his final appeal against his conviction of misappropriating funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd.

“We know Datuk Seri Najib Razak had a tough challenge in appeal of the SRC International case in the Federal Court yesterday.

“The Federal Court’s decision to reject his application to provide new explanation in his latest appeal was a court decision and we respect and do not want to be said insulting the court.

“However as citizens, members and leaders of the party, the decision does not prevent us to continue with his fight in the party and the case at hand,” Zahid said.
