UMNO should respect Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), and should not forget itself, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

He said UMNO should not forget that Bersatu had supported UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the Prime Minister, and they are together in the government based on certain terms that had been mutually agreed upon.

“As long as these terms are complied with, as long as we provide support until the right time to hold elections.

“But as mentioned by the Prime Minister himself, UMNO is back in power not because the party has a majority of seats in Parliament, but because of the support given by PN parties, the Sarawak Coalition Party (GPS), Sabah United Party (PBS). ) and several independent MPs,” Muhyiddin said in the President’s policy speech in United Annual General Assembly, today.

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said he was aware that many Bersatu members were wondering about the position of Bersatu and the National Alliance (PN) in the Federal Government led by UMNO leaders when UMNO had decided not to cooperate in the next GE.

“So, I would like to give a message to certain parties in UMNO. Be a little respectful. Don’t easily forget yourself.

“It is not UMNO that decides when the election will be held, other partners especially in the PN together with the Prime Minister will discuss in advance when is the right time to hold the election, that is one of the terms I want to state,” he said.

According to Muhyiddin, Bersatu remains committed to fighting for the prosperity of the people, especially the Bumiputera community without neglecting the interests of other races.

“As a progressive indigenous party, Bersatu will continue to fight for the interests of the Bumiputera community within the framework of a multi -racial and multi -religious society,” he said.
