KUALA LUMPUR: The Pearl of Africa Business Forum and Expo 2025 aims to boost Uganda-Malaysia trade and investment, with potential for $5 billion in oil and gas exploration.

High Commissioner of Uganda to Malaysia Dr Betty Oyella Bigombe said the Business Forum and Expo would focus on agriculture, tourism, minerals, oil and gas, and science and technology.

“Uganda has a wealth of natural resources, a vibrant labour force, and a strategic geographical location within East Africa, making it an ideal destination for investment.

“We have a lot to learn from Malaysia. We look at Malaysia as a key partner in this nation, and our objective in organising the expo is to promote Uganda as a new investment destination in Africa,” she said in a press conference here today.

According to a press release, the Pearl of Africa Business Forum and Expo 2025 will be held for the first time in Malaysia, and it will be organised by the High Commission of the Republic of Uganda to Malaysia and World-One Business Federation at the Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur from April 23-24, 2025.

Uganda is seeking investors in value addition, agro-processing, and organic fertiliser production to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

The country is also rich in mineral resources, such as gold, copper, and lithium, and is seeking partnerships in mineral exploration, extraction, and value addition.

Uganda has special economic and investment zones for industrial parks, free trade zones, and an oil and gas hub.

According to the organizer, the two-day event will focus on the entire value chain under one roof and will feature specialised exhibitions prioritising current and future collaborations with Malaysian businesses and chambers of commerce for mutual growth.
