PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that the Malaysia’s Ambassador to United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Consul General to Dubai were recalled for failing to coordinate and manage the logistics of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s visit to Dubai on 29th March 2022.

Wisma Putra said, the failures include the Prime Minister had to wait a long time at the arrival hall for passport clearance by the Immigration of Dubai.

Apart from that the Wisma Putra said the security control and the motorcade, following the standard operating procedure (SOP), was not adhered to.

“Both the officers had failed to inform the Ministry in Putrajaya on the World Government Summit (WGS) that was held in the Dubai Expo premises.

“The Ministry only came to know about WGS on 30th March 2022 via other sources.

“If the top management of Wisma Putra had been informed about the WGS, it was assured that efforts would be made for the Prime Minister to deliver his speech in that event,” Wisma Putra said in its statement here on Monday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the statement as an explanation to Free Malaysia Today’s (FMT) report on 10th April regarding Prime Minister’s visit to Dubai that it claimed the information was not accurate and mere speculation besides the allegation was baseless.

The statement also stressed that the action of recalling the two officers was not unusual as it had been done through negotiations with the related people including Civil Service Department. The action was taken to protect the interest of the bilateral relations between Malaysia and the related country besides to ensure the competency and the interest of civil service. -Malaysia World News
