Two friends facing death penalty for allegedly killing a homeless man

MELAKA: Two friends, both 20, have been charged today at the magistrate’s court with jointly killing a homeless man.

The victim, Mohd Eddie Hafiez Yusof, 42, was found in coma, covered in blood, on the sidewalk of a building on March 15 at about 7.20am. He was taken to hospital where he died 3 days later (on March 18).

The accused, Muhammad Aliff Daniel Wong Abdullah and Joel V Michael Louis are facing death penalty if found guilty. They were charged under Section 320 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.

According to NST, the lawyer applied for a short mention date and appealed for the case to be transferred to the High Court immediately because the police had not allowed them to meet the accused since they were remanded.

The court then set April 26 for mention and submission of the post-mortem report.
