PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (pic) urges civil servants to abide by their oaths of giving services to the nation and not thinking about anything else.
“As administrators, they should follow the law and regulations and if they are asked to do something which is against the law they have the rights to reject,” Dr. Mahathir said in his speech at the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) staff assembly Monday morning.
He added, it is the responsibilities of civil servants not to accept any directive that is against the law.
“In recent years, it was seen that the administrators (civil servants) have no power to remind or say anything when they were asked to do something that was against the law,” he reiterated.
Dr. Mahathir arrived with his wife, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali at the Perdana Putra Building, here at 8.22 am and was received by Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr. Ali Hamsa and senior officers of JPM.
This was the first time Dr. Mahathir went to Perdana Putra Building since he was appointed as the 7th Prime Minister on 10th May.
Before this, he held all his meetings including a courtesy call with Sultan Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong at the Perdana Leadership Foundation near here.
Tun Mahathir was appointed Prime Minister after Pakatan Harapan (PH) defeated Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election held on 9th May. -Malaysia World News
