KUALA LUMPUR: The government has announced toll-free travel in private cars for two days starting April 8th, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

The Works Ministry, in a statement, said the Cabinet meeting on February 7, 2024, had decided to provide toll exemptions for two days exclusively to Class 1 vehicles (private vehicles) on April 8 and 9.

The toll exemption will be implemented on all highways starting at 12.01 a.m. on April 8 (Monday) and ending at 11.59 p.m. on April 9 (Tuesday).

According to Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi, as quoted by FMT, for the toll-free initiative, the government has allocated an estimated compensation cost of RM37.6 million.

However, the toll exemptions will be granted at all toll plazas except at border toll plazas, namely the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza (BSI) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor.

According to the statement, the toll exemption by the government is a gesture of concern and a shared joy with the Malaysian people. Malaysian World News
