LANGKAWI: 30,000 tourists are expected to visit Langkawi in these two weeks after the government reopens Langkawi Island for tourism on 16th September 2021.
According to Astro Awani, the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) is targeting 200,000 tourists a month as set in December and about 30,000 individuals to visit Langkawi in the last two weeks of September following the opening of the resort island to the public through a tourism bubble initiative starting this Thursday (September 16).
Its chief executive officer, Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib, said in the first two weeks, they expect an average attendance of 2,000 arrivals a day for this month.
“2,000 (visitors) a day is a modest figure because we don’t want to be passionate about (targeting) high numbers until (the situation is) out of control, what is important is that we can control visitors’ attendance well,” he said in a press conference on LADA’s preparations in conjunction with the opening of Langkawi for the tourism bubble initiative at the LADA Complex, Kuah here, on Tuesday.
