GAZA CITY: Dozens of trucks filled with humanitarian aids are expected to enter the Gaza Strip on Sunday following the enforcement of the ceasefire agreement, said a Palestinian officer.

The officer said to Anadolu Agency (AA) that dozens of aid trucks had arrived on the Egypt side towards the Karem Shalom trajectory.

“The trucks are ready to enter Gaza as soon as the ceasefire starts,” he added without giving any details of when the aid trucks could be permitted to enter the territory.

The Egypt news channel, Al-Qahera that is affiliated to the government reported that 95 aid trucks had entered the border trajectory while other trucks are waiting at the Rafah trajectory to be permitted to enter Gaza.

Meanwhile as reported by Bernama, the United Nations (UN) agency for the Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said, it has 4,000 aid trucks that are ready to enter Palestine.

UNRWA General Commissioner, Philippe Lazzarini said that the attacks against the aid convoys in the Gaza Strip “possibly will be lesser when the humanitarian aids start to arrive following the ceasefire.”

The agreement of the ceasefire was enforced at 11.15 am local time (0915GMT) on Sunday after several hours being postponed following Israel’s allegation that Hamas was said to have delayed sending the detainees’ list to be freed.

The ceasefire was earlier scheduled to start at 8.30am local time (0630GMT).

According to the local health authority, nearly 47,000 people had been killed, majority women and children while more than 110,700 injured in the conflict that occurred since 7 Oct.2023.
