The suspect fired shots at KLIA detained in Kota Bharu, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect who fled away after he was alleged to have fired off a shot at the arrival hall of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last Sunday had been detained by the police at 3pm in Kota Bharu Kelantan.

The detention of the suspect was confirmed by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Razarudin Husain as reported by Sinar Harian.

Last Sunday, the suspect Hafizul Harawi, 38 had fired off two shots with one did not hit the target while the other one had hit his wife’s bodyguard who was waiting for the arrival of the Umrah piligrims.

However, the personal bodyguard of his wife was seriously injured and the suspect drove off in a Honda City car.

According to the police investigation, the incident was related to husband and wife affair case.

The case has been investigated under Section 307 Penal Code and Section 8 Firearms Act (Heavier Penalties) 1971. .
