Kuala Lumpur: The search for Miss Plus World Malaysia 2023/2024 has begun nationwide, with 30 phenomenal candidates to be shortlisted by October 2023.
Miss Plus World Malaysia (MPWM) has officially launched the nationwide search for 30 candidates who will compete for its 2023/2024 prestigious titles.
The launch took place at a dazzling press conference held in KL Wellness City, Bukit Jalil, on June 20, 2023.
Among the VIP attendees were Puan Sri Nisa Bakri, Dato Sri Matthew Yeoh, and Yang Mulia Raja Ikram Bin Raja Abdullah Omar.
Also in attendance were the reigning Miss Plus World Malaysia 2022/23 Lam Man Teng and Ms. Plus Intercontinental Malaysia 2022/23 Sherlyn Chan, the former Miss Plus World Malaysia 2021/22 Elena Tong, Miss Photogenic Plus World Malaysia 2022/23 Nurhidayah Hashim, and Miss Elegance Plus World Malaysia 2022/23 Shalani Kaliappan.
The MPWM is the official preliminary to the internationally renowned Miss Plus World Competition. It offers an exceptional opportunity for plus-size women to showcase their inherent beauty, both inside and out.
The pageant aims to crown the woman who shows larger-than-life qualities not just in beauty but also intelligence, confidence, and the ability to serve as an ambassador for Malaysia. It will also be a channel to broadcast positive messages and stories of humanitarian efforts, wellness, education, peace, and a worldwide appreciation of diversity.
The national auditions are scheduled to take place from September to October in four other states: Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak, besides Kuala Lumpur. 30 candidates will be shortlisted: 15 for Miss Plus World Malaysia and 15 for Mrs. Plus World Malaysia.
The shortlisted candidates will be competing for various titles, and ultimately the grand finals will take place in the first quarter of 2024. This will be the fourth MPWM event in Malaysia.
All women of all ethnicities, single or married, are welcome to participate, provided they are size 12 and above and Malaysian citizens or permanent residents in Malaysia. Candidates can sign up under two categories: Miss Malaysia Plus World for women who are 18 to 34 years old, or Mrs. Malaysia Plus World for ladies aged 18 to 45 years old.
