KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed that the remand order against three policemen suspected of stealing RM85,000 from a premise during the Mini Dhaka raid would be extended.
Ayob Khan said they would investigate the matter thoroughly and there is no issue of concealing police officers from crime.
“We received the complaint on Dec.21 (Thursday) evening and detained the officers on Friday. We will not tolerate if our officers are allegedly involved in crime and we will conduct an investigation.
“This case will not weaken our operations on the foreigners’ colonies,” he said to the media at Bukit Aman here on Tuesday as reported by NST.
Meanwhile on Friday, City Police Chief, Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid in a statement said, the police had received a report regarding stolen cash amounting to RM85,000 at 12.36 am on 22nd Dec.2023.
Following the report, police detained three police personnel aged between 26 to 35 years old suspected to be involved in the theft.
The case was investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code. All detained individuals will be remanded for four days starting Dec.23 till Dec.26.
