The program “Madani Economy: Empowering the People” to focus on turning Malaysia into a leader in Asia`s economy

KUALA LUMPUR: The “Madani Economy: Empowering the People,” an economy framework launched on Thursday had outlined two main focuses namely to restructure the economy to make Malaysia the leader in Asia’s economy and to raise the living standard of the Malaysians.    

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the economy framework launched is a basis for the people to raise the nation’s dignity and becomes a vision to build a better Malaysia and the future generation.

“The vision will be built based on the values of MADANI that requires the efforts of the whole Malaysian community to make it into reality.

“The MADANI economy looks forward in a deeper and wider scope and has placed seven main benchmarks as the target for the medium-term schedule to be achieved.

“It will also be the master for several special policies that will soon be announced among others the Direction of National Energy Transition Plan,    New Industries’ Master Plan 2030, and Mid-term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan,” Anwar said in his Facebook post on Thursday.

He said that at the unveiling of the “Madani Economy: Empowering the People” framework, here yesterday.

The prime minister added, he wants to see Malaysia develops an order that is fair and Malaysia as a prominent and successful independent country. The aspirations of all Malaysians will be the focus of the Unity Government.   

 Meanwhile, in his speech, Anwar said since 1998, the country has been experiencing a deficit in its national budget.

With the country’s debt figure expected to reach more than 60 per cent of its GDP this year, he said the situation would severely impact the national economy.

“The country is burdened with swelling debt, and 16 per cent of the national income is allocated just to repay debt.

“It is feared that this situation will limit our ability to focus on development that guarantees the well-being of the people, including public investment and the growth of economic capabilities,” he said. –Malaysia World News
