KUALA LUMPUR: The PKR opposition lawmaker, Rafizi was sentenced to 18 months’ jail for leaking a classified document on 1MDB audit.

Rafizi Ramli was found guilty by the court for possessing and disclosing content of a government audit report on the 1MDB fund and breaching the Official Secrets Act.

The Sessions Court said Rafizi will serve 18 months’ in prison for the offence.

Rafizi would also lose his status as the Pandan MP following the court decision.

Rafizi said he was not surprised by the decision, adding that today was “just another day”.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” he posted on social media.

The 1MDB fund has been at the center of investigations in many countries including the U.S. Swiss and Singapore following allegations of a global money-laundering on high scale.

The U.S. Justice Department claims at least $3.5 billion has been stolen from 1MDB.
