KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his happiness over the inaugural cooperation between Petronas Abu Dhabi Sdn Bhd. and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) in Abu Dhabi on 5th Dec. 2022.
Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said, the cooperation between the two companies had once again proved Malaysian companies’ capabilities to compete at the global level.
“The success of the cooperation between the giant oil producer and national gas company with Abu Dhabi is indirectly reflecting the close bilateral relation between Malaysia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) at various levels including between leaders of the two countries and people-to-people relations,” Ahmad Fadil said in a statement.
Ahmad Fadil added this is in line with the earlier decision of both countries to elevate the relationship to a strategic partnership.
“His Majesty hopes the cooperation will also open up a new avenue for strategic cooperation in various sectors including economy between the two nations for mutual interests and prosperity,” Ahmad Fadil said.
Ahmad Fadil also stressed that the historical agreement between the subsidiary company fully owned by Petronas and Adnoc includes exploration cooperation and evaluating Unconventional Onshore Block 1 involving a concession area covering 2,000 sq. km in Al-Dhafra Territory.
Ahmad Fadil added, His Majesty also witnessed the agreement signing ceremony between Petronas Abu Dhabi Sdn. Bhd. and Adnoc in Abu Dhabi on Monday (5th Dec.2022).
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber who is also the managing director and chief executive officer of Adnoc were also present to witness the signing of the agreement.
Also in attendance were International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, President and Group Chief Executive Officer Petronas, Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik and top leaders of Petronas and Adnoc.
According to Ahmad Fadil, His Majesty is on his four-day special visit to Abu Dhabi until 7th Dec. 2022 on the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al-Nahyan. – Malaysia World News
