KUALA LUMPUR MAR.26: The Ministry of Health had confirmed 83 positive COVID-19 cases were detected in the district of Kluang and as such the government will impose an Enhanced Movement Control Oder (EMCO) in Kampung Dato’ Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Johor, effective March 27 until April 9.
Defence Minister who is also a Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the EMCO will be imposed on 3,570 people from 650 families.
“The aim of the EMCO is to combat COVID-19 from spreading to other areas, thus this enforcement enables the authority to identify the cases from one house to another within 14 days,” he said in a press statement this evening.
With that enforcement, the settlers and visitors who have been in these two areas are not permitted to go out of their houses during the EMCO and neither local settlers nor visitors could go into these two areas.
Ismail said, all business activities will be stopped while basic food sufficient for14 days will be supplied by the Welfare Department to the people within the 14 days.
A Medical Base will be opened in the EMCO areas while roads to and from those affected areas will be closed.
“To ensure the EMCO is being followed by the people, the Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, Civil Defence Forces (APM) , People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) will be on guard in those affected areas.
“People in the affected areas are requested to be calm and cooperate with the Health Officers and obey all directives from the authorities,” he added
