KUALA LUMPUR: International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said he will cooperate with the authorities concerning the Jana Wibawa programme if summoned.

“There is nothing to hide as I am ready to have my statement recorded if required to do so. The media have asked me about Jana Wibawa,” he said in his Facebook.

He was responding to the former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s press conference earlier stating that the Jana Wibawa was proposed by the then finance minister Tengku Zafrul during his tenure as the prime minister.

Muhyiddin said he had his statement recorded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) and said that he was not involved in determining the awarding of contracts in the project which certain parties have alleged was not done according to the rules.

The Jana Wibawa programme was introduced to expedite project execution to generate the nation’s economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

On another development, the government has decided to postpone RM5.7 billion worth of rural development projects under the Jana Wibawa scheme as announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development on 15th Feb.2023.- Malaysia World News
