Swedish woman among victims in the tree fall incident in Jalan Sultan Ismail

KUALA LUMPUR: A Swedish woman passenger and an e-hailing driver were believed to be among the victims of a tree that fell on Jalan Sultan Ismail here, Tuesday.

The Dang Wangi District Deputy Chief Police, Superintendant Nazron Abd. Yusof said, 17 different types of vehicles were crushed by the tree that fell on the road at 2.00pm.

Nazron said, the tree that had fallen on a vehicle involving a local male aged, 47 had been confirmed dead.

“The body of the victim had been taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) for a post-mortem examination.

“There are two other victims taken to KLH possibly the Swedish woman passenger and the e-haling driver who is a Malaysian citizen,” he said to the reporters at the place of incident and added the incident happened during a heavy rain.

However, Nazron said, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had taken a quick action to clean the premises affected in the incident.

“The road affected has been fully closed for cleaning and will reopen as soon as the clearing works have been fully completed,” he said.

He also suggested that the owners of the vehicles and injured victims to come forward and lodge a report for further actions.

“Police will also get witnesses of the incident besides tracing the family members of the dead victim,” he said.

Those involved in the operation at the location of the incident includes the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) personnel, Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force.
