Several Austrian companies have expressed interest to invest in Malaysia, Azmin Ali said Saturday after having a bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Dr. Margerete Schramböck, the Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs of Austria.

“We agreed on the paramount importance of further strengthening the current strong bilateral trade and investment relations between Malaysia and Austria.

“In this regard, several Austrian companies see Malaysia’s strategic position as a gateway to the Asia Pacific Region,” said Minister of International Trade and Industry.

He added, as Malaysia is focusing on environment, social and governance issues (ESG), he assured Dr Schramböck, that Malaysia would facilitate interest by Austrian companies renowned for placing clean energy at the forefront of their products and services.

To further expand bilateral trade and investment as well as intensify economic cooperation, a new form of communication will be explored.

Azmin said, both parties signed an Establishment of Focal Points to allow for direct dialogue as well as the exchange of views and ideas to further deepen economic cooperation between both sides as well as their countries.
