Senior Minister Azmin represents PM Ismail at state funeral ceremony for Shinzo Abe in Tokyo 27 Sept

PUTRAJAYA:  Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, will represent Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the State Funeral Ceremony for the late Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan on 27th Sept. 2022 at Nippon Budokan, Tokyo.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its statement said, the Senior Minister will be accompanied by officials of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo during the ceremony.

“The ceremony includes a greeting session with Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan in the presence of Hirokazu Matsuno, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan and Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan followed by a brief occasion with Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of Abe to extend condolences at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo.

“During his tenure as the Prime Minister of Japan, Abe visited Malaysia three times and played an instrumental role in enhancing bilateral relations including strengthening further the Look East Policy (LEP),” the statement said.

The statement added, His last visit to Malaysia as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan was to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the LEP during which Abe had a meeting with Prime Minister of Malaysia and audience on His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda , Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah in March 2022.

“On 13th July 2022, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah signed the book of condolences at the Embassy of Japan in Kuala Lumpur,” the statement said. –Malaysia World News
