KUALA LUMPUR: The ‘Op Selamat 20’ held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations has recorded 1,389 accidents nationwide on the second day of its operation.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department in a statement today said, from 1,601 vehicles involved in the road accidents, 1,159 were cars, 112 four-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles (192), and multi-purpose vehicles or MPVs (81).
Meanwhile, in yesterday’s accidents, two bicycles were involved besides 15 lorries, 23 vans, 13 buses and four taxis. This was a drop from the first day of the operation which recorded 1,964 accidents involving 2,486 vehicles.
The ‘Op Selamat 20’ launched by Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani on Wednesday and the following day (Thursday) has recorded 1,704 accidents involving cars, motorcycles (279) four-wheel drive vehicles (206), MPVs (150), lorries (91), vans (44), buses (10) and taxis (2).
“We would like to advise all road users to be on the alert always when on the road to avoid the risk of accidents,” Acryl Sani said.
The ‘Op Selamat 20’ is scheduled to be enforced for nine days from 20th April to 28th April 2023. – Malaysia World News
