PUTRAJAYA: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah will undertake an official visit to Sweden, Denmark and Norway from 29th May to 5th June 2022 to meet his counterparts and discuss the way forward in strengthening the long-standing multifaceted cooperation between Malaysia and the respective countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, this visit will also provide an avenue for Malaysia to further discuss and exchange views concerning the post-COVID-19 cooperation, ASEAN cooperation as well as the inter-regional and international issues of mutual interest.
“During the first leg of the visit to Sweden from 29th to 31st May 2022, Foreign Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with his counterpart, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde; the First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Ms. Åsa Lindestam; and the Members of the Swedish Committee on Foreign Affairs, respectively.
“Foreign Minister Saifuddin will also participate in a Roundtable Discussion to be held at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), as well as scheduled to meet the government linked agencies,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The statement added, in a separate session, Saifuddin will be hosting a reception with Keluarga Malaysia at the Embassy of Malaysia in Stockholm.
Meanwhile, during the visit to Denmark from 1st to 2nd June 2022, Saifuddin will be meeting his counterpart, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Jeppe Kofod; the Secretary General of the Nordic Council, Kristina Háfoss; and an engagement session with the Committee Members of Malaysia Denmark Association.
“The Foreign Minister is also scheduled to speak at the Asia House, Copenhagen, the renowned establishment that has historically hosted numerous personalities from all over the world.
The session will include the participation of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Mr. Mogens Lykketoft with invitees among others, the Danish Foreign Policy Society, think tanks, government officials and diplomatic corps,” the Ministry’s statement added.
However, during the last leg from 3rd to 5th June 2022, Saifuddin will be in Norway and is scheduled to meet his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Anniken Huitfeldt.
“Saifuddin will also hold meetings with the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence of the Norwegian Parliament and the Delegation to the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership, respectively.
“The Foreign Minister Saifuddin is also scheduled to meet the Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, Mr. Olav Njølstad as well as to host the Keluarga Malaysia reception in Oslo.
“The Foreign Minister will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs throughout his visit to the three countries.” the statement said. –Malaysia World News.
