RMK-12: Malaysia will emerge as high income, high technology nation with better quality of life in 2025 –PM Ismail

KUALA LUMPUR SEPT.27: The whole development plan that will be implemented in the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12) will introduce several reforms to ensure a sustainable economy with the distribution of opportunities that is more equitable.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, in 2025 Malaysia will emerge as a high-income nation with a better quality of life alongside with high technology following the implementation of the reforms.

Ismail said, there are several main targets and objectives to be achieved in RMK-12 and this includes i) The growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 4.5 until 5.5 per cent per year in the period 2021-2025 ii) The average income of a household around RM10,000 per month in 2025, iii) The gap of GDP per capital between Central Territories and Sabah will be reduced to the ratio of one to 2.5 while Sarawak is reduced to the ratio of one to 1.2 in 2025 and iv) The reduction of intensity release of the Green House Gas (HGS) of 45 per cent to GDP in the year 2030 based on the release intensity in year 2005 in line with the Paris Agreement 2015.

The Prime Minister emphasized the nine main focus in RMK-12 consists as follows 1) mobilising the economic growth 2) strengthening the catalyst of growth 3) increase the prosperity of Malaysian Family 4) stabilise the safety and public’s peacefulness 5) abolish hard-core poverty and to narrow the income gap 6) empower Bumiputera Agenda and Malaysian Family 7) elevate the development in Sabah, Sarawak and states with less development 8) speed up Green Growth and 9) increase the efficiency of the public service delivery and ensure the implementation of policies are effective.

The Prime Minister said, “the 12th Malaysia Plan 2021-2025 has its strategic direction to meet the objective “Malaysian Family –prosperity, inclusive and sustainability.”

“This will be implemented by focusing on the efforts to reactivate the growth of economy, to ensure the prosperity of the country could be distributed fairly and equally to maintain the sustainability of the environment following Order Paper CMD One Year 2021 and in approving the RMK-12, the Dewan Rakyat urges the people to work with full commitment to develop the nation sustainably to enable every Malaysian Family to have a reasonable living standard regardless of religion, race and ethnic group.”

The Prime Minister said that when tabling the 12th Malaysia Plan in the Dewan Rakyat today and it will be debated by the Members of the Dewan Rakyat.

Ismail added, the government is providing RM400 billion to finance the continuation of projects and new projects under RMK-12.
“The RMK-12 that I am tabling is an important plan to complete the National Recovery Plan (NRP). It is to return the momentum of economic growth and to reach the objectives of development in a long term.

“The RMK-12 with the objective “Malaysian Family, prosperity, inclusive and sustainable” is to enable everyone to have a better living standard. All the strategies and initiatives are in line with 2030 Agenda for a Sustainable Development that has been agreed by all members of the United Nations in 2015,” Ismail reiterated.-Malaysia World News
