Kuala Lumpur: The Conditional MCO (CMCO) or MCO phase 5 has started today ( May 4) and most of the economic sectors and industries have resumed its operations.
Malaysia has begun easing the MCO lockdown restrictions by allowing shops, factories, offices, restaurants and other businesses to reopen and people to leave their homes and go to work.
The government took this softer measure after Malaysia has flattened the curve in the Covid-19 spread as Health Director General, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
However, Security Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it` s up to the people whether they want to restart their business now or later.
” Resuming business is on the discretion of the entrepreneurs as it is not compulsory .”
” This will be determined by the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Federal Government.
“There is confusion on the implementation of the CMCO among the states,” said Ismail in a press conference here today.
He added, some parties wanted to follow the MCO phase 4 but it has been cancelled and replaced with the new procedures under MCO 5.
“All states and districts will have to follow as it is under 342 Act, Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and has been gazetted,” Ismail reiterated.
However he said, under MCO 5, interstate travel is not permitted. –Malaysia World News
