A group of red shirts led by Umno Sungai Besar Division leader Jamal Md Yunos gathered at the Malaysiakini office today.

The group chanted ‘Merah, Merah’ (Red, red) and ‘Hancur Soros’ (Destroy Soros), and demanded an explanation over claims that the news portal received funding from US magnate George Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF).

The red shirts representatives met Malaysiakini editor-in-chief Steven Gan and editors RK Anand and Jimadie Shah Othman.

“You champion freedom of expression, so we want to see how far this freedom of expression is,” Jamal told MalaysiaKini chief editor.

More than a dozen police personnel were present at the premises.
