KUALA LUMPUR MAR.9: Pulau Langkawi will be on Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) status effective 10th March 2021 and this will enable the targeted domestic tourism bubble to convene in the island that has turned into green zone.
Senior and Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, Langkawi Island recorded only two COVID-19 cases on 20th February 2021 and as such the government has agreed to change its status from Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to RMCO.
“The Technical Meeting yesterday had received a proposal from the state government on the status of Pulau Langkawi and after a risk analysis was carried out and with the advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH), the status of Langkawi was agreed to be changed to RMCO even though CMCO is still imposed in Kedah,” said Ismail at a press conference held here today.
Relating to the targeted domestic tourism bubble, Ismail said the government has agreed to allow the tourism movement to convene only among the states with RMCO status by abiding the following conditions:-
Only tourism services company/agency that are registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture (MOTAC) can be used; movement using tourism transport that are registered with MOTAC; personal movements are not allowed; the company under the tourism agency have to get the permission from the Royal Police Malaysia (RPM) for inter-state travel; movement should be straight to the RMCO state and stopping at any state with CMCO status is not allowed; the accommodation and tourism activities will have to be fixed earlier and movements from CMCO to RMCO states are not allowed.
On another development, Ismail said the government has agreed to allow live performance with the presence of guests in areas under CMCO and RMCO for creative industry activities and filming outside the studios.
Ismail added, in CMCO areas the presence of guests is 50% of the event space capacity and adhering to the physical distancing while in RMCO places the presence of guests is depending on the physical distancing.
The live performances include the government official programmes; television programmes, musics, dances, comedy, cultural and heritage shows and livestreaming.
Ismail added, the events should be held at the locations and event spaces that are licensed such as the convention centre, exhibition gallery, trade centre, art premises and other licensed MICE premises.
The filming outside the studio is also allowed in CMCO and RMCO areas by adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Creative Content Development and adhering to the conditions that had been fixed by FINAS.
Meanwhile on the work from home policy, Ismail said, for the civil services and industries under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) the policy is still in use for both CMCO and RMCO areas.
However it depends on the head of departments to give instructions that are suitable to the work system.
For the industries in CMCO areas, the companies can start their businesses with the presence of 30% from the management group while 100% of the supporting workers’ group that are involved directly in the production line. However in RMCO areas the company can be in full operation. –Malaysia World News
