PUTRAJAYA JUNE 7: The inaugural official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan from 7 to 8 June 2022 includes having an audience with His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement said, its Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah will host his counterpart Prince Faisal who is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“Datuk Seri Saifuddin and Prince Faisal will hold a bilateral meeting to chart a way forward for the already strong Malaysia-Saudi Arabia relations. The two Foreign Ministers will also exchange views on the regional and international development of interest to the two countries,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Prince Faisal is also scheduled to have separate meetings with the Senior Minister of Defense, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and the Senior Minister of International Trade and Investment, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
“Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been long-standing partners. Cooperation between the two countries continues to expand in various fields, including in COVID-19 response and post-pandemic recovery.
“Saudi Arabia is Malaysia’s second-largest trading partner and the largest source of imports among West Asian countries. Total Malaysia-Saudi Arabia trade in 2021 was valued at RM17.56 billion (USD4.23 billion),” the statement said. –Malaysia World News
