Prince Charles amazed with the culture, multi racial heritage of Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR:  Heir to the British throne, the Royal Highness Prince Charles who started his visit to Malaysia on Friday was amazed with the richness in culture and multi-racial heritage that the country possesses.

Prince Charles also expressed his happiness to be in Malaysia for the first time to commemorate the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between Malaysia and United Kingdom.

“I am amazed with the culture, religion and multi-racial groups in Malaysia….and when I said that, something should be appreciated and celebrated,” said the Prince of Wales at a reception hosted by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

The reception was held at the Islamic Art Muzium near the National Mosque.

The Royal Highness, Prince Charles was on his one week official visit to Malaysia with his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall. They were in Malaysia as one of their destinations in the Royal Winter Tour.

In his 90 minutes visit to the muzium, The Royal Highness Prince Charles that was accompanied by Sultan Nazrin visited the Islamic Architecture Gallery and manuscript gallery besides Uthmaniyyah Room where the items were arranged from Syria Ithmaniyyah Room since early 19th century.

The Royal Highness Prince Charles also presented the muzium a memento in the form of a frame where he wrote his name in Arabic characters.

Meanwhile His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V had granted an audience to the visiting Royal Highnesses at the Istana Negara and later welcomed by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.    

Today the Royal Highnesses visited St. Mary’s Cathedral situated next to Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur. They were welcomed by Archbishop Ng Moon Hing at 10.10a.m.

The Royal Highnesses are scheduled to visit a number of places in Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang and Sarawak as well as participate in various significant events over the span of seven days from Nov.2 to 8. – Malaysia World News
