KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin urged the authorities not to take action on any party that had shown support openly on any political party during the 15th General Election (GE-15).
Muhyiddin said, only when there is no action taken on them, the General Election is said to have been implemented independently, fair and competitive.
“I know many influential people including independent preachers and popular artists who had given support openly towards PN in the GE-15.
“However they were also people supporting other parties like Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN). That is their rights in a democratic country,” Muhyiddin said in a statement.
The Pagoh Member of Parliament (MP) also mentioned about the mosque management that is determined by the “kariah” selecting the committee members in a democratic way. This system should not be politicised by denying the rights of the Muslim “jemaah” from managing their mosques.
Muhyiddin also stressed that the authorities responsible for the Islamic affairs should not curb strictly the spreading and the teachings of Islam based on “Ahli Sunnah Wal Jemaah” to the extent denying the people from gaining knowledge at the Muslim gathering places.
Muhyiddin said, few popular preachers have been prohibited from giving talks at the mosque and television. There are also talks in Tik Tok that have been blocked.
“I have watched the video on the committee members of several mosques in Pulau Pinang who have stepped down that went viral. They claimed the state government had tried to intervene on their positions that were determined by the “kariah,” Muhyiddin said.
According to Muhyiddin, he has read the news on several popular preachers who have been prohibited from giving talks in the mosque and also on television besides their talks on Tik Tok being blocked. – Malaysia World News
