KUALA LUMPUR: Cash amounting RM114 million was found in 35 out of 72 bags seized from Pavilion Residences, said Datuk Seri Amar Singh.
The Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Director, Comm. Amar revealed at a press conference on Friday.
He said, the cash in the 35 bags were from 26 different currencies and were verified by bank officials and 11 counting machines to tally the amount seized.
“The 72 bags and 284 boxes containing handbags and jewellery were seized on 18th May at the Pavilion Residences. On 23rd May the amount of money in the 35 bags was verified by 21 officials from Bank Negara and one from Bank Islam,” he said.
Amar Singh also said the remaining 37 bags had contained jewellery and watches and experts will be called soon to estimate the values.
Amar Singh also mentioned, the two of the three units at Pavilion Residences belonged to former premier Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s daughter and son while the third condominium unit was unoccupied and did not elaborate.
“Police have also searched 12 locations and recorded 30 statements in the course of their investigations.
“Six locations linked to Najib and in Putrajaya, including the Prime Minister’s Office and his official residence had also been searched by the police,” he said.
Former Prime Minister Najib Razak was probed by the police on the allegation of misappropriating 1MDB funds. Najib and Barisan Nasional coalition had failed to defend its 60 years old government in the 14th General Election on 9th May.- Malaysia World News
