Police investigating the motive behind the death of 4 RMAF personnel in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR AUG 13: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has confirmed that four of its staff had been killed in the shooting incident that occurred around 7.15am today at 330 Skuadron, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak.

RMAF in its statement said, the victims were Air Corporal, Mohammad Ehsan Sehamat, Air Corporal Ho Swee Boon and Senior Air Army, Nesly s/o Nabau who died in the incident while Air Corporal Sharif Mohd. Siddiq Al-Attas Wan Sably died at the Heart Hospital Kota Samarahan while receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The statement added, all the deceased were married and from Sarawak. Mohammad Ehsan was from Asajaya Laut, Samarahan; Ho Swee Boon from Bau; Sharif from Seniawan, Bau and Nesly from Sibu.     

Meanwhile the Police of Sarawak are investigating the motive of the shooting involving the four dead at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Camp in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak this morning.

Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner Mancha Ata said, in the incident the suspect took his own life after shooting three others.

He added, the police have examined the closed circuit camera (CCTV) footage at the scene. More witnesses would be called to record their statements to facilitate further investigations.

“Investigation showed that four air force personnel who were on duty at the RMAF Handau Skuadron 330 guard post were involved in the incident.

“One of the personnel tried to calm the suspect after he grabbed a weapon from the storage at the guard post. However he ignored the advice and shot his colleague in the abdomen,” he said in a statement today.

Macha added, the suspect went into the rest area and shot a colleague in the right side of his chest and then he shot another colleague before taking his own life by shooting himself in the lower chin. –Malaysia World News
