KUALA LUMPUR: The Police are investigating a death threat on the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that has gone viral on the media social since Sunday morning.
According to Bernama, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain when contacted said, currently he had received one report regarding that matter and an investigation is ongoing.
He said, any further information on the related matter will be announced from time to time and the case is being investigated under Section 507 Penal Code and Section 233 Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
Earlier in the media social, a capture video screen was uploaded by a TikTok user who offers RM5 million to anyone who could shoot dead the Prime Minister, minister and the members of a political party. However the video had been removed.
In another development, the Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) had lodged a police report on a media social TikTok user who had uploaded the post threatening to kill the Prime Minister.
AMK Deputy Chief, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said, the report was made by a representative of AMK.
“This is not the first threat made on the Prime Minister and because it has been done repeatedly, it seems the person is challenging the authority,” he said as reported by Sinar Harian.
He added, the person has openly threatens the Prime Minister by offering a reward of RM5 million to anyone who can kill him.
“We have requested the Police to immediately investigate and take further action on the party/person responsible,” he said at a press conference outside the PKR Annual National Congress 2023 on Sunday. – Malaysia World News
