KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, the coalition had won 73 parliamentary seats and as such it could form the federal government.
Muhyiddin said, this includes 22 PAS seats that used the PN logo in Kelantan and Terengganu.
The Pagoh Member of Parliament said, the federal government could be formed after discussing with other parties that will accept the aspirations of PN.
“We can cooperate with other parties that could accept PN’s struggle and slogan “Care, Clean and Stable,” he said at a press conference Sunday morning.
Muhyiddin also stressed that the final decision of PN in forming the federal government should be finalized by the end of the day.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan (PH) leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the coalition has obtained the biggest block in the parliamentary composition and no party has obtained simple majority in the Parliament.
“We have obtained 76 seats and after conducting meeting and support from Members of Parliament we managed to cross 112 seats.
“PH has reached the simple majority and can now form the government,” Anwar said.
According to Anwar he will have an audience with His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong the soonest to submit the necessary documents.
His Majesty will make his discretion on this important matter.
Referring to Muhyiddin’s claim that PN could form the federal government, Anwar said it is impossible for him to do so.
“We have the results in writing and will inform the palace accordingly,” Anwar said. -Malaysia World News
