KUALA LUMPUR 11 Jun – On the occasion of Nuzul Al-Quran holiday during the holy month of Ramadan, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urges the Muslims to defend the sacredness of Al-Quran and disregard all kinds of deviations and efforts to link Islam with terrorism and extremism.

Najib said the teachings of Al-Quran are based on the principles of mercy, humanity, and justice. Terrorism and extremism are obviously out of Islamic context.

The Prime Minister was referring to various terror attacks which have hit many countries across the world.

“If nothing is done to stop these incidents, the image of Al-Quran teachings which are sacred and pure will be deteriorated and thus engulfed with negative perceptions,” he said this in his blog najibrazak.com today.

Najib said, Malaysia is an Islamic nation, committed, progressive and always try to realize the guidance of Al-Quran.  Al-Quran will become the rescuer for those who read, understand and practice its teachings in their daily lives.

He added, hosting the 59th International Tilawah Al-Quran recently was an example for our maturity and capability to instill Al-Quran values in every Muslim’s soul in Malaysia.

“Our country does not only put material development as the prime importance but human capital becomes the priority and the decider behind the physical social development.

“We embrace all these as a manifestation of the devotion and appreciation of Al-Quran teachings which organizes integrated prosperity for the world and the next (duniawi, ukhwah),” he reiterated.

Najib also invites all Muslims to observe Ramadan by reading Al-Quran, “talaqqi, tadarrus and tadabbur” to get the guidance, benefits and make life more meaningful (barokah).

He said on every 17th day of Ramadan, Muslims will celebrate an important occasion that is “Nuzul Al-Quran”.

“I pray that “Nuzul Al-Quran” brings more “barokah” and brings all hearts as one and be the best ummah,” he said.

In Surah Al-Baqarah, Quranic version (ayat 185) it says: “It is compulsory for you to fast in Ramadan and also it is this time the Al-Quran came down to earth to show direction and guidance for humankind and information to explain the direction and the difference between the truth and otherwise. –Malaysia World News.
