KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak stressed that Malaysians should choose a government that gives priority to the political stability and good leadership.

He said, without such priorities, everything could be meaningless and the country would be destroyed.

“If political stability, good leadership and understanding the history of Malaysia which supports the physical and social development are not given as priorities, then the stability of the country would be at stake.

“The government should emphasize on four dimensions namely politics, economy, social and the security of the country to avoid instability of administration,” he said at the Regimental Dinner of Malaysian Armed Forces and Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) at Wisma Perwira, here Friday evening.

Amongst the distinguished guests present was Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein; Chief of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and Inspector General Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

“The Penang Institute in its working paper even suggested the size of civil servants from 1.62 million to be reduced to 430,000. This suggestion was made because the four dimensions were not given as priorities.

“The reduced in the number of civil servants would definitely affect the MAF and also RMP staff. We cannot imagine if the number of education services staff is also reduced,” said Najib.

Najib said, the situation became worst when a certain party did not understand the history of the country and suggested to disband the Royal Malay Regiment. They claimed the Regiment did not meet the concept of ‘Malaysian Malaysia.’

The Prime Minister added Malaysia will become a strong nation globally, with the support and good comradeship between the leaders of MAF and RMP and its staff.

The government, he said, will consider giving whatever is affordable to the staff of MAF and RMP for their sacrifices to maintain the sovereignty of Malaysia.

“The development of the two national security forces is very important to the country,” Najib reiterated.
