Petaling Jaya: Pakatan Harapan (PH) government today announced three senior minister posts in the new cabinet, namely Minister of Finance held by Lim Guan Eng (DAP), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin ( PPBM) as Minister of Home Affairs and Mohamad Sabu (Amanah) as the Minister of Defence.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad when announcing the names said, only three minister posts are named today while the other seven ministers will be known next week.

“It will take some time to name the other seven ministers as the coalition is represented by four parties and all of them will have to be represented in the new cabinet.

“The composition of cabinet ministers should not reflect that one race is dominating the government,” he said in PPBM Headquarters here today.

Tun Mahathir also stressed that many factors have to be taken into consideration including other component parties of PH from Sabah and Sarawak besides the qualification and experiences of the ministers.

The Prime Minister also said, since the new cabinet ministers have not much experience in administering the government, the presidential meeting decided that a group of eminent persons be appointed.

Mahathir said the eminent persons include the former Minister of Finance Tun Daim Zainuddin, former Governor of Bank Negara Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Petronas Tan Sri Hassan Merican, renowned businessman Robert Kuok Hock Nien and economist Dr Jomo Kwame Sundaram.

On the question of who ordered former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to be blacklisted from leaving the country, Mahathir said: “I instructed the authorities to stop Najib and Rosmah from leaving the country.”

Regarding how soon the 1MDB case is to be heard, Mahathir said, the authorities will act the soonest possible even on little information to justify an arrest and detention.

“We will study and investigate the money laundering in the United States of America, Switzerland, Singapore and Luxemburg and what happened to the money,” he said.
