Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob extends his congratulations to Rishi Sunak for his appointment as Britain’s new prime minister.
“Malaysia and the United Kingdom have enjoyed a cordial and productive relationship, especially in trade and investment.
“In addition, both countries share close ties, history and aspirations that have benefited the peoples of the two nations.
“I look forward to working closely with you to reap the potential of our two nations’ relations.
“With your able-stewardship, I am confident that this existing partnership will grow stronger,” said Ismail Sabri in a Twitter post on Tuesday (Oct 25).
Former finance minister Rishi Sunak has become UK’s prime minister after being elected on Monday as the leader of the Conservative party.
Sunak, a wealthy Hindu descendant of immigrants from India, took over after Liz Truss resigned as Prime Minister after 6 weeks in office.
