PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that Kedah is the focal state where the Unity Government will ensure that hardcore poverty will be fully eradicated with the support of the State Government.

Anwar said, Kedah has received an allocation of RM1.6 billion for 2023 and this does not include other aids for the dilapidated schools, clinics, and water supply projects.

“I guarantee to help speed up China’s investments in Kulim Hi-Tech Park and subsequently will generate economic growth in Kedah.

“I have also used this opportunity to inform the problems faced by the padi planters, small rubber holders, and fishermen who will be attended to by the Unity Government via the 2023 Budget,” Anwar said in his Facebook post today.

He said he had delivered his speech before His Highness Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman in conjunction with the Malaysia Madani Aidilfitri Open House with Prime Minister in Alor Setar Kedah today.

The Aidilfitri Open House was held at the Raia Hotel and Convention Centre, Alor Setar.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Anwar said, “It is shameful that a capable country with vast resources such as oil and gas, palm oil, and industries has failed to resolve hardcore poverty which is a fundamental issue.”

Anwar added, the amount announced in the recent budget shows that we do have the capability to overcome poverty if we work together, agree to manage the country’s economy, bring in investments, and ensure that government spending is focused on the people. That is why the government keeps on emphasizing good governance. – Malaysia World News
