PUTRAJAYA: On his first day at work as the 10th Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim suggested reducing the number of ministers and lowering their salaries.
“The size of the Cabinet will surely be smaller and I’m asking new ministers to agree with my proposal to reduce their salaries.
“This is still in the process of discussion and preparation,” he was quoted by the Star as saying at a press conference at Perdana Putra on Friday.
Anwar added his main priority is to address the rising cost of living.
He also said among other priorities are strengthening the ringgit and stock market.
“But for now, priority should be given to the rising cost of living that are burdening the people,” he said.
