KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today launched the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase Two (MRT2) involving the route from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya.

The Tambun Member of Parliament said, members of the public are now able to enjoy MRT2 services for free starting from 3.00pm today (Thursday) until 12 midnight 31st March 2023.

“The good news is for passengers to utilise MRT2 services for free at any 36 stations along the route,” Anwar said when launching the MRT2 Line with the Transport Minister Anthony Loke here today.

The prime minister also highlighted that via the Budget 2023, the government has proposed to continue the Unlimited Monthly Pass Incentive (My50) for the benefit of 180,000 passengers with the allocation of RM150 million.

“The government is now focusing on the health and education aspects as what have been highlighted in Budget 2023 while the public transport will certainly be given priority in the budget next year as to answer the road congestion problems,” Anwar reiterated.

The MRT Putrajaya Line which was developed in two phases will serve residents from Kwasa Damansara all the way to Putrajaya. It comprises of 36 stations, nine of which are underground and is expected to serve 104,000 commuters a day.

As quoted by FMT, the project was started by former prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak but was delayed when Pakatan Harapan formed the government in 2018. It was restarted when Tan Sri Muyiddin Yassin became prime minister. – Malaysia World News
