PUTRAJAYA: Cooperation between the government of Malaysia and the founder cum Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tesla Inc. and SpaceX, Elon Musk will generate employment opportunities for thousands of skilled workers in the country.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, this will be realized following the opening of the head office, service centre and experience centre of the electric vehicle (EV) Tesla owned by Elon Musk in Cyberjaya, Selangor this year.
“I welcomed the interest and decision of the Malaysian companies to invest and the readiness of Elon Musk to come to Malaysia,” he said in a statement here today after he had a video conference with Elon Musk today.
Also present at the video conference were Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil.
Anwar said, Malaysia will continue to empower the commitment on ‘net-zero emissions’ the earliest in 2050. Malaysia has a plan and comprehensive ecosystem and sources with competencies in supporting the clean energy industry including the electric mobility.
“We have also discussed on the participation of SpaceX in Starlink satellite services that could contribute to a faster and wider Internet reach especially in remote areas that needs only physical infrastructures and minimum land to increase the global Internet networks.
“This initiative will increase the capability and the prosperity of the people especially on educational aspect and the agricultural technology potentials and income generation,” Anwar said. –Malaysia World News
