KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extends his heartiest congratulations to Khun Paetongtam Shinawatra on her election as the new Prime Minister of Thailand.
Anwar said Khun Paetongtam is the youngest-ever Thai prime minister and the second woman to hold this esteemed office.
“As close neighbors, Malaysia and Thailand share a vital and enduring partnership, forged on long-standing historical, cultural, and economic links as well as deep-rooted kinship,” he said in his Facebook post today.
According to Anwar, the common pursuit of peace and development in southern Thailand offers profound benefits for communications on both sides of our border.
“I look forward to working closely with Prime Minister Paetongtam to unlock the full potential of our bilateral relationship.
“I also wish to express sincere appreciation to my dear friend, former Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin for his visionary leadership in strengthening the bonds between our two nations,” he said. –Malaysia World News
